Grand Theft Auto VI is taking such an incredibly long time to launch that the revival of a long-extinct bird might actually happen first.
Rockstar Games must relate to Red Dead Redemption’s Van der Linde gang, having to dodge their eager fans left and right.

We’ve been waiting years for a new Grand Theft Auto installment, and while everyone understands games can’t be rushed, this prolonged wait has certainly tested the patience of many.GTA 6 has been delayed twice—three times if you’re keeping close track—and is now set to release in November 2026, assuming Rockstar doesn’t have any more unexpected delays up their sleeve .
And during this seemingly endless wait, we’re completely serious when we say scientific breakthroughs have emerged that could finally bring the dodo bird back to life. We genuinely wish this were a joke.
We all know the viral “we got X before GTA VI” meme, but this takes things to a ridiculous new level.
For those unfamiliar with humanity’s mission to resurrect the flightless bird, scientists have been experimenting with genetic technology and aim to release flocks of dodos into the wild once the process is perfected .
The latest development shows chickens could serve as potential surrogate mothers. While the Nicobar pigeon is the dodo’s closest living relative, certain chickens can accept the bird’s reproductive cells and pass them on to their offspring.

Of course, there’s more complexity to the process, but those are the simple terms we’ll stick to—this isn’t a scientific publication, after all.
With a bit of luck, these findings will officially bring dodos back from extinction, and hopefully for good this time .
What’s humorous about it all is that this scientific milestone is unfolding before GTA VI even hits shelves.
It’s also ironic: if the game had stuck to its original release date, it would already be out by now, and we’d have missed this wild dodo revival saga.
We’re not claiming there will be millions of dodos wandering the planet when Rockstar finally drops the game, but it’s undeniably funny that the wait has stretched this long—even funnier if another delay comes along.
Fortunately, word on the street suggests that won’t happen, as Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two has expressed confidence that the November 2026 release date is here to stay .
How bizarre would it be if, by the time GTA VII launches, Rockstar has to include dodos as part of the open-world’s ecosystem?
